First Year Experience shows students how to successfully navigate campus resources and encourages participation in college life. First Year Experience (FYE) is all about making purposeful connections and places special emphasis on each student’s first year at Austin Community College. We do this through:
The Orientation Program (TOP) which is required for all new ACC students who are first time in college students with zero credit hours. In this fun, three-hour session, students learn about ACC resources and meet other new students.
Welcome Week for students the first week of each fall and spring semester where students can have their questions answered, get directions and anything else to ensure that students get through their first week of school.
The Virtual to In Person (VIP) events which are scheduled throughout the semester as a fun way for new students to meet, mingle, and get to know other first-year students in a stress-free environment.
Social Media, online communication tools provide new students with a way to ask questions, find support and build community.
The annual Riverbat Bash was a success again last night, with over 300 attendees wandering the block party - a new fair-style feature this year. There was live music, food and games - suitable not only for the students but also their families, including young children. R.B. took pictures with guests while Engage Dance Team performed. In addition to fun activities, many different vendors came out to give students different cultural activities and new opportunities, including:
